Personal Profile: W.M. THOMPSON
Skywater Dimensions CC t/a Rainbow Reservoirs was founded by Polokwane businessman Mr. Wayne Thompson on 17 February 2003 as a realization of his longstanding desire to become involved in the field of water conservation and management.
Mr. Thompson was born in South Africa in 1945 and spent his adolescence in the then Southern Rhodesia where his family took up residence in 1956. On leaving school he secured employment on an agricultural research station where his interest in water and the various facets of its management had its beginnings.
He left agriculture to pursue a military career during the course of which he lived and worked in some of the remotest parts of rural Southern Africa. Here his interest in water and particularly its effect on the lives and fortunes of the areas inhabitants, both human and animal, gained momentum. He retired from the military in 1980 in the rank of Major and returned to South Africa to pursue a career, in commercial and industrial security which culminated in his election as the 1999 Pietersburg Business Personality of the Year by the city's Chamber of Business.
Mr. Thompson's interest in the conservation of water and water-wise innovation persisted through his years in unrelated fields of endeavour until it eventually resulted, in 2003, in his decision to establish and develop Skywater Dimensions CC t/a Rainbow Reservoirs. This he has done in liaison with the Australian Company Heritage Tanks Pty Ltd, who are experts in the field of reservoirs and a significant supplier of these products in Australia.
He foresees a growing demand throughout the region for reasonably priced, excellent quality water storage reservoirs of the type now supplied by his CC Rainbow Reservoirs and he plans to take advantage of that demand.
